free event- Farmers Branch Tour of Lights

Farmers Branch Tour of Lights is under way and the tree lighting will take place Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Farmers Branch Historical Park. The event will feature a fireworks show, snow tubing, visits with Santa, tours of historical structures, the Dallas Puppet Theatre and Radio Disney. Revelers will be treated to complimentary cookies, punch and hot chocolate. Gates open at 6. The event is free and open to the public.

Head out to the Fort Worth Parade of Lights in Sundance Square on Friday night.  Stay after for the tree lighting and a special appearance by the big guy himself, Santa Claus.  The Parade of Lights is free, though reserved spots are available for purchase.  The parade begins at 6 p.m.  Yule want to get there early as traffic can tend to be a nightmare.  Stay after the parade and head over to 3rd and Main for the tree lighting at 7:30 p.m..  Bring chairs and watch the Will Ferrellcomedy Elf in the Chisholm Trail parking lot beginning at 7:45 p.m.  Learn more here.

Weekend Report - Holiday Lightings all around town

The holidays begin in downtown Dallas on Friday in the Main Street District with the Neiman Marcus building lighting and holiday window unveiling beginning at 7 p.m.  At 7:30 p.m., a parade of lights will weave through the promenade from Neiman's to the Main Street Garden where the city's 60-foot tall tree resides. Visit the cocktail corner at Pegasus Plaza complete with a free photo booth, henna art and DJ Billy Biscuits spinning. Get more information here.





The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History opens their new facility today.  The first 3,500 guests will get in free -- though those wishing to visit the Noble Planitarium or IMAX theater will still have to cover those separate admissions fees.  More here on NBCDFW.com




The City of Plano Parks and Recreation Department will host its 31st annual Christmas Crafts Fair Nov. 21 & 22. Booths will offer handmade holiday decorations and gifts including a large selection of Santas, angels, tree skirts, ornaments, and wreaths. Jewelry and clothing will also be available. The fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Plano Centre, 2000 East Spring Creek Parkway. Admission is free.  More information here.
Also on Saturday, The Village at Allen will kick off the holiday season with Santa's arrival and a tree lighting at 6 p.m.  Rumor has it Santa will flip the switch on the 35-foot, interactive tree's 100,000 lights. More information here.

We will host our 2nd annual Parade of JOY on Saturday, November 21st at 9am. Community groups from across the area will once again join Uptown Village for the Parade of Joy, filling the streets of Cedar Hill with lights, music and holiday spirit. Santa will make his debut in the parade as he is escorted to his new home for the holidays.

-Following the Parade many of the dance groups will perform on the stage- Over 2 hours of perfomances.
-Cedar Hill Police and Fire Departments will host a Safety Fair from 11am-3pm. They will be helping kids make fingerprinting/ID kits, checking child seats in cars, and handing out report cards for car safety during the holidays. They will be set up at The Village Green.
-Toys 4 Tots Car Show-2pm-6pm- will be located on the upper level near Dick's Sporting Goods. Bring an unwrapped toy as your entry to the car show. The United States Marine Corps Reserves will be here to accept the toys. Vintage cars will be piled high with gifts for needy children during the Toy drive, hosted in conjunction with the monthly Classic Car Cruise In. Guests are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to the drive.
-Grand Tree Lighting-6pm-8pm- Santa will "flip the switch" to illuminate the 100,000 lights on our 30' interactive tree. Guests will enjoy food sampling offered by our restaurants, live musie and more during the evening's festivities. The tree, located in the Village Green, will serve as the centerpiece for holiday decor at the center and is programmed to play a holiday song every 20 minutes, synchronized with dancing lights.
