Free movie- Alice in Wonderland

Now this sounds rather nice. If you enjoy a good drive in movie, but  can't afford to drive out to Ennis for one; why don't you head over to North dallas for this event.

Alice Scissorhands
Alice In Wonderland

Alice Scissorhands

By Liz Smith
When we first spotted the movie poster for Tim Burton's remake of the classic 1951 film Alice in Wonderland, a gravitational pull drew us to Johnny Depp's orange Mad Hatter hair like a fly to the blue glow of a bug zapper. And after months of anticipation, we sat back in the movie theater to watch Alice, fully expecting to see Burton's dark and twisted version of a classic, much like his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. But that's what we get for expecting the expected from the crazy-haired director. Our frustration to understand the story line grew as we squinted at the screen through our 3D glasses. We felt like we'd been smoking the caterpillar's hookah for too long and lost our sense of reason. So if you haven't seen it yet, let us spare you the frustration: Tim Burton's Alice is not a simple remake, but rather a sequel of sorts to Lewis Carroll's story. We see Alice as a 19-year-old who runs away from an arranged marriage and again falls down the rabbit hole. Watch the story unfold for yourself at a free screening at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Half Price Books, 5803 Northwest Hwy. Call 214-360-0833 or visit halfpricebooks.com.

Talk Back Time- Write up on the Free Jazz, Fashion show, & Martini's

For those of you that remember this free event with Free Jazz, Fashion show, and Free martini's, I did attend the show as promised!! I am so impressed with Banana Republic's line this year. I personally love this store (It's my 3rd favorite).  My image and marketing consultant, who has an amazing blog regarding everything for you fashionistas but on a budget, joined me at this free event. We had an amazing time and got great ideas for outfits and layering. (She is amazing talented too by the way! Check out her blog.) Below is the write up on The fashion show. Check it out

BANANA REPUBLIC’S NEW FALL LINE

Banana
So yesterday my FAB friend Alex invited me to the Jazz up DFW event at Banana Republic at Northpark. She has a blog that showcases all of the free or super cheap events going on in Dallas. Y’all can and should check her out hereThe event was super cute…there was  jazz music, free martinis, and hott Banana Republic models wearing items from their new fall line. I love love love Banana Republic even though they are a tad pricey, they make quality pieces that you can wear for years. I have a  sweater from there that I have been wearing for 10 years…seriously!
Banana,of course, did lots of layers for fall, with earthy tones with pops of color, embellished cardigans, and AMAZING tailored pants and skirts. Here are some of my favorite items from the site (I had one too many martinis and forgot to take pics of the models)
This is a great classic trench. In person, its even better it’s a nice heavy cotton.
One of my other favorite jackets was this leather one. It’s super soft to the touch and the perfect  shade of brown, you can literally wear it with anything.
These skinny black trousers are a must. They can go seamlessly from the office to a night out and look super chic. Plus, straight legged pants are a 2010 fall trend. So why not get them at Banana?
I also styled Alex in an outfit …
Cute huh?
Here are some pics from the event
Wearing one of my cheap chic outfits.
Alex lookin cute, get it girl…

It's A Fab, Fab World

It's A Fab, Fab World

You would think that after abandoning the intricate and highly prescribed world of corsets, bustles, waistcoats and top hats, getting dressed would be much easier. Nope. Despite more lax undergarments and less formality in dress, the mall--and the Internet, boutiques and discount stores--still overwhelm us with the tyranny of choice. Who do you want to be today: sex kitten, businessman, rock star, debutante or any one of a million other outfits? Maybe you can narrow your options at NorthPark Center's On the Runway fall fashion event. The event revolves around several fashion shows including Boy Meets Girl (menswear with a female silhouette), TV Star (fashions inspired by hot teen shows), Model Off Duty (inspired by the after-hours lifestyle of models) and Under $100 (bargain fashions). Open call for the annual Kim Dawson Model Search also kicks off during the event weekend. On the Runway takes place on tax-free weekend, Friday through Sunday, at NorthPark Center, 8687 N. Central Expressway. Reserved seating for each show is $15, and standing room is free on a first-come basis. For tickets and schedule, call 214-361-6345 or visit northparkcenter.com.
