Free cake at Bread Winners

One of my favorite restaurants here in the DFW area is bread winners. I have been going there since I was about 16, and still love it the same as the first day I went. If you ever get a chance to go there, you must have sweets. Don't worry if you don't want to pay- this week only Bread winners is celebrating 16 years with giving away Sweet 16 Cake Balls! This is the perfect way to taste out some sweets while enjoying pleasant company (or book).

Bread Winners is turning
SWEET 16!

In celebration of our 16th Anniversary,
Bread Winners will serve every guest who comes in to
dine, a delicious Sweet 16 Cake Ball!

Monday, July 19 to Friday, July 23
at all three locations

Because who doesn't love free cake!?

The very first Bread Winners opened in July of 1994 with 10 employees, an empty bank account and a prayer for customers. Jim and Cindy Hughes wanted work to feel like a “home away from home” atmosphere and embraced their new employees as extended family members. Many of the employees from those first few years remain with Bread Winners today for this very reason. All four of their children have worked in the restaurant at some point, as have both sets of their parents. It is truly a family business and a labor of love!

That first year, Bread Winners just served breakfast and lunch. Word quickly spread and soon dinner service was launched. Catering was then added a few years later due to the increasing demand. Today Bread Winners manages over 250 employees, runs 3 locations, operates a corporate catering service and has added the Quarter Bar in Uptown to round out their portfolio.

Saving Pennies at Plato's closet- Thrift Store Shopping

As many of you may know, I love thrift stores. It's very rare that I purchase clothes full price or brand new. Call it a love affair between vintage and cheapness, but I have a slight obsession with a store called Plato's closet here in Dallas, Tx. I am a fan of two- one in Euless, and another in Irving. These are my favorites as the clothing they have often is brand new and I am a fan of dresses which both stores carry a lot of (nice) dresses.

Twice a year, they hold a "Grab Bag" sell. At this sell, you put as many "clearance/selected items of clothing in a bag all for 10 dollars. I went to this event this weekend, and while it's not my normal free event- it definitely is a bargain i couldn't pass up. Check out all the items i bought for under 22 dollars!

I ended up leaving with the following items: 11 dresses, 11 tops, 4 tanks, 2 pairs of shorts, 1 skirt, 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of shoes, and 3 blouses. That is a steal! From forever 21 to banana republic, the name brands and outfits ranged. This reset my wardrobe to a totally different area.

The lesson here- check your thrift stores for super saving days. Salvation army has this monthly and sometimes weekly. Check them out for a variety of essentials such as jackets, and plain tshirts. I have even gotten jeans for a buck just so that i could rip some. Its a great place to stretch your money!

List of stores I shop at: Buffalo Exchange, Plato's Closet, Salvation Army, Goodwill .....
