Wednesday - Weekend Report 9.23.09

As payday approaches for many, some people rejoice while others groan as they hand it over to those “30th and the 1st “ day bills. Don’t worry though, for those who have just enough to get by for another two weeks, I have found a great weekend event around town that shouldn’t break your piggy bank (or savings account) and will not have the State Fair of Texas Weekend Crowd.

Uptown (right outside of Downtown), is having its 2nd annual All About Uptown Festival: A Celebration of Art and Living.

There is a plethora of to do such as local bands, pet stations, kids area with face painting and crafts, tours and yes, food all day long.
  • Local bands--including Beatles cover band Hard Night's Day, Scott Whitaker and Grammy-Award winning Brave Combo--will play at the festival's main stage throughout the day.
  • Food and beverages- Chipotle, Dream Cafe, Genghis Grill, Sambuca, The Ginger Man, and Uptown Bar and Grill
  • Kids Korner- face-painting and crafts from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Time:
The festival is set for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
On Fairmount Street from McKinney Avenue to Howell Street.
Parking
Always an issue for me, but in this instance, its actually free! Free parking will be available at the Crescent Real Estate Tower
Admission
Free for everyone, including pets. :)
