Anniversary Symposium on the March 28, 2000 Fort Worth-Arlington Tornadoes: A Homeland Security Perspective

Description:
The City of Fort Worth Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service invite you to attend this day-long symposium on the 10th anniversary of an outbreak of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms affecting the DFW area. The event will be held on the campus of Texas Christian University in the Brown-Lupton University Union Building. The day will begin by revisiting the events that occurred on that day featuring speakers from the National Weather Service and the cities affected by the storms. 
 The agenda will also include presentations on storm damage assessment and the modeling of tornado damage using GIS datasets. The day will close with speakers addressing developments that have taken place in the region’s integrated warning system in the past ten years, and how those developments have affected preparedness efforts from a homeland security perspective.Radar image from the 2000 Downtown Ft. Special Instructions:
The symposium is designed for emergency management officials, first responders, elected officials, and related disciplines, but is open to the general public. Please be aware that seating is limited to 450 people and parking is limited. Lunch is on your own. A cafeteria and restaurant located in the Brown - Lupton University Union offer the option of lunch without leaving the site of the symposium.
