Free movie- Alice in Wonderland

Now this sounds rather nice. If you enjoy a good drive in movie, but  can't afford to drive out to Ennis for one; why don't you head over to North dallas for this event.

By Liz Smith
When we first spotted the movie poster for Tim Burton's remake of the classic 1951 film Alice in Wonderland, a gravitational pull drew us to Johnny Depp's orange Mad Hatter hair like a fly to the blue glow of a bug zapper. And after months of anticipation, we sat back in the movie theater to watch Alice, fully expecting to see Burton's dark and twisted version of a classic, much like his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. But that's what we get for expecting the expected from the crazy-haired director. Our frustration to understand the story line grew as we squinted at the screen through our 3D glasses. We felt like we'd been smoking the caterpillar's hookah for too long and lost our sense of reason. So if you haven't seen it yet, let us spare you the frustration: Tim Burton's Alice is not a simple remake, but rather a sequel of sorts to Lewis Carroll's story. We see Alice as a 19-year-old who runs away from an arranged marriage and again falls down the rabbit hole. Watch the story unfold for yourself at a free screening at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Half Price Books, 5803 Northwest Hwy. Call 214-360-0833 or visit halfpricebooks.com.
